'He has to' - Kyle Walker sets Man City star Erling Haaland Premier League challenge

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has told teammate Erling Haaland that "he has to" continue his goalscoring form for the club, as he claimed that the Norwegian "set the bar so high" for himself this season.

Haaland has been scoring at an unrivalled rate for City. The former Borussia Dortmund forward has found the back of the net 21 times in the Premier League this term, with Tottenham's Harry Kane six strikes behind the 22-year-old on 15 goals.

Pep Guardiola will be delighted with how quickly his new signing has hit the ground running. Haaland has also scored five times in four Champions League appearances and added a Carabao Cup goal in his one run-out in the competition for good measure.

The striker has given City another dimension to an already impressive front-line for the Blues, but Walker has now claimed that Haaland cannot let up his incredible scoring rate as they enter the second-half of the season.

When asked about his teammate, the full-back told club media : “It is incredible. He [Haaland] is the quickest player to score 20 goals in Premier League history since Kevin Phillips. What he is doing has not been seen and we have had some great strikers in the Premier League.

“He has to continue now because he has set the bar so high. Every game he keeps popping up with a goal so he just needs to keep doing what he is doing, make sure he keeps scoring the goals and then us as defenders keep the clean sheets which will ultimately win us games.”

Haaland will be looking to score his 22nd league goal of the season when City take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night. A win for Guardiola's side would see them close the gap to Arsenal back down to just five points - with both sides still yet to play each other home or away this term.
