The people of TikTok have shared their concern for a woman on the platform after she asked for advice regarding her husband who told her he wanted a divorce only to back out of it after realizing how much he would have to pay in child support. Now many are worried he is planning a more horrific and permanent solution.
TikTok user, Mikayla, told viewers that it had been three days since her husband had told her he wanted a divorce and that he wasn’t happy. “He’s ready to up and leave my 10-month-old, my three-year-old and me, practically a stay-at-home mom, to fend for ourselves,” she explains. She also told viewers that her husband had said “he doesn’t want to pay the mortgage, doesn’t want to pay any bills, and I need to figure it out if I want to stay in our home.”
Of course, in a divorce, one side rarely gets to dictate what they do or don’t have to pay their former partner, especially when they’ve built an entire life and family together. He may not want to pay any bills but like it or not, Mikayla’s husband has a responsibility to his family.

He got a nasty shock upon realizing just how much he would have to pay in child support. In fact, it was such a high amount that he decided to backtrack and decide against the whole divorce thing. Of course, that left Mikayla and her followers on TikTok feeling incredibly concerned about what he may be planning. He’s already shown that he doesn’t care for his family and wants to leave them to fend for themselves. Him staying is actually far worse than if he were to leave.
People on TikTok are worried for Mikayla
Mikayla admitted she didn’t know if she could trust someone who was willing to up and leave their family and the rest of TikTok concurred. Many viewers recommended formulating an escape plan, “Get your finances etc in order asap, work out what to do in the short term and lawyer up!” advised one person. “Let him stay and pay the bills while you make plans to leave him.” added another.
However, some were seriously concerned that the husband may go even further in his goal of being free of his family. “[H]e is going to scott peterson you to save money,” warned one viewer who was worried about Mikayla and her children’s safety. “I have watched enough Dateline to know you better change your life insurance,” wrote another.
Viewers unanimously agreed that Mikayla had to get out of that situation ASAP, even if the husband wasn’t a threat to their lives, she knew his intentions now and so a divorce was likely coming sooner or later. In an update, Mikayla informed viewers that she had filed for divorce as well as filing an emergency protective order against her husband.
