Arsenal legend Ian Wright has blasted the Football Association for their ruling in the John Yems racism scandal, labelling it "disgraceful".
Yems has been banned from all football-related activity for 15 months for multiple breaches of rules relating to discriminatory comments. But the FA's independent panel have concluded that Yems, who was most recently manager of Crawley Town, is "not a conscious racist".
He had been charged by the FA in relation to 16 alleged comments which "included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race and/or nationality and/or religion or belief and/or gender" during his time as Crawley boss. Yems admitted to one charge and was found guilty of 11 others relating to the discriminatory comments. The independent regulatory commission has banned Yems from all football-related activity up to and including June 1 2024.
