Long before he became one of the most influential Indian-origin tech leaders in America, Sanjay Mehrotra was just a young engineering student from Kanpur trying desperately to secure a US student visa.

According to a Times of India (TOI) report, Mehrotra was rejected three times by the US embassy in New Delhi in 1976 despite having confirmed admissions from three universities and all the required paperwork in place.
