HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) had spent nearly Rs 90 lakh as remuneration for the director of its academy with zero activity as the academy (HCAE) was ‘shut down for more than six years’. This startling revelation was made by Kode Durga Prasad, former DG (CRPF), who was assisting Justice (retd) L Nageswara Rao, the one-man commission appointed by the Supreme Court to take care of the HCA operations in February this year.
In Annexure B of the report submitted by Justice Rao on October 29 to the SC, Prasad wrote: “The Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence was literally closed from 2017. However, a director was posted and paid almost 90 lakh during the last three years while the Academy remained closed. The academy at Gymkhana cricket ground was in disuse with zero maintenance.” Surprisingly, the report doesn’t name the director.
