HC notices to Telangana on Rythu Bandhu benefit

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court has issued notices to the state government, revenue and agriculture officials asking them to explain their stand on a PIL which wanted the court to direct the state not to extend Rythu Bandhu financial benefit to those farmers who possess more than five acres of land.

The PIL was filed by T Nanda Kishore, an advocate from Hyderabad, who wants the state government to confine the benefit to small and marginal farmers who possess less than five acres.

A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili heard the counsel for the petitioner and directed the officials to file their counters by March 25.
