KOLKATA: Ever since Bihar was welcomed back into the domestic cricket fold by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, they have made more news for wrong reasons off the field than on it. And the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy squad announcement adds to that growing list of factional feuds - now within the BCCI-affiliated Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) - coming to the fore.
The 20-member Bihar squad that travelled to Rohtak to face hosts Haryana in their opening fixture of Ranji Trophy Elite Group C from Friday, was finally announced only after a Patna High Court intervention on Tuesday. The HC needed to intervene to sort out the legal battle between the current BCA president Rakesh Tiwari and former secretary Amit Kumar. Kumar had earlier taken the matter to the court after being removed by Tiwary.
