For a second year running Alex Miller (Swatt Club) and Hayley Preen (ChemChamp Honeycomb) claimed victory at the Khomas100 UCI Gravel World Series race along with the African gravel titles.
Preen, who has just delivered a fifth at Leadville 100, dominated in the women's elite race, crossing the line in the 140km race from Namibia's Windhoek to the Gross Barmen Resort in 4:59:31. The Life Time Grand Prix competitor crossed the line 13:07 ahead of Vera Looser, while just behind Namibian champion Anri Greeff took third.
It was a tight battle in the elite men's competition, with Miller taking the duel with Marco Joubert (Toyota Specialized Imbuko) right to the line, while Jordan Schleck (Canyon x DT Swiss All Terrain) took the final podium spot 4:51 later.
"Came back home to Namibia for one main goal: defend the African Gravel title and yesterday I managed to do just that," said Miller in a post on social media. "Nice dice in the end with SA gravel champ Marco Joubert."
The round across the fast open roads and demanding climbs was one of two UCI Gravel World Series races last weekend, with HYSK Gravel Classic in Japan delivering the first race of the series in the nation.
