Hawthorn veteran Liam Shiels has been dropped again as the Hawks look to arrest a four-game losing streak against GWS.

Shiels, who brought up his 250th AFL game last month, has been left out of Hawthorn's team to face the Giants on Sunday.

The three-time premiership player will be among the Hawks' emergencies that travels to Giants Stadium for the round 16 game.

Shiels was dropped after Hawthorn's round one game and did not return to the 22 again for another three weeks.

Fellow flag hero Jack Gunston is a confirmed starter after missing a month with an ankle injury, while young gun WIll Day is also back.

The Giants have brought back ruckman Matt Flynn, leaving out highly-rated Braydon Preuss despite having served his one-game suspension.

GWS coach Mark McVeigh admitted it would have been a "big risk" to pick Preuss for a "big game".

"We're desperate to get him (Preuss) in and we're desperate to get our rucks going," McVeigh said.

"That's one thing that's been really frustrating - we haven't been able to do it."

Port Adelaide will unleash father-son selection Jase Burgoyne for his eagerly-anticipated AFL debut.

The son of premiership star Peter, Burgoyne will play against Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Sunday, as will veteran Robbie Gray and defender Darcy Byrne-Jones.

Star veteran Michael Walters will return for the Dockers as they look to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Carlton last week.

Dashing defender Nathan Wilson will make his first AFL appearance for this season, after struggling to break into Fremantle's backline after suffering a shoulder injury in the pre-season.

Vital Richmond forward Kane Lambert has again been left out for the Tigers' game at the MCG against West Coast as he continues to manage a chronic hip issue.

The Eagles will be boosted by the return of ruckman Nic Naitanui but have decided to rest veteran forward Josh Kennedy.
