'Haven't set world alight' - Former Manchester United striker makes Liverpool claim before Watford win

Dion Dublin doesn't believe Liverpool have 'set the world alight' despite being 14 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race in January to now moving top with a 2-0 victory over Watford

Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the first half with a header from a fine Joe Gomez cross and then Fabinho sealed the win over Watford with a penalty in the latter stages of the game. Liverpool now sit at the Premier League's summit, with previous leaders City due to kick-off later on Saturday.

Former Manchester United striker Dublin admitted he was impressed by the Reds' consistency - they have now won their past 10 Premier League matches - but didn't seem to be bowled over by the way they have been playing.

PLAYER RATINGS: Thiago Alcantara sensational but two awful against Watford

PAUL GORST: Jurgen Klopp plea eventually heard as true Diogo Jota danger emerges at Liverpool

“Liverpool have been very professional, they haven’t set the world alight,” Dublin, an ex-England international, told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“They have done what they needed to do to catch up with Manchester City. They have been so consistent, it’s been amazing.”

City are taking on Burnley at Turf Moor in a 3pm kick off this afternoon. Three points for Pep Guardiola's side will move them back above Liverpool in the table.

The rivals are set to come to blows on Sunday, April 10 at the Etihad Stadium in what could potentially be a deciding factor in where the title ends up in May.
