Budget 2024 is just a couple of months away.
Next year's package is expected to be announced in early October and the Government has revealed how much additional spending will be included in the package.
The Cabinet has signed off plans to allocate €6.4 billion in additional spending to Budget 2024, with €1.1 billion allocated for tax cuts.
Of the remaining sum, €3.2 billion is already allocated, meaning there will be a €2 billion pot for new spending measures. This will mark an overall increase in core spending of 6.1 per cent

The Government has been urged to raise social welfare payments by €25 in the next budget. Social Justice Ireland is also calling for child benefit to be hiked by €50 per month in 2024, in order to "protect the most vulnerable" of the population.
