Have your say on how you would improve Nottingham city centre

Nottingham city centre has got a lot going for it. Great people, fantastic businesses, a lively atmosphere - those are just a few of the positives.

But, as with everything in life, there is always room for improvement. Here at Nottinghamshire Live, we are keen to find out how you think the city centre could be improved.

We asked that question on Twitter. The responses were interesting.

Twitter user jackie said: “It needs more places where families can be together without it costing an arm and a leg. Cinema is OK but it costs so much if you have more than one child.

“Plus more greenery and open spaces. Less tarmac.”

Sue Tribe said: “Support more independent shops. Make it different to every other city with the same big companies.

“Develop an art quarter, a food quarter etc. Do it properly.

“Look at those cities here and abroad that bring people in because they're exciting to visit. Not full of cheap shops!”

MagpiesRuleOK said: “Revive the old architecture. Green areas, parks, atmosphere. It’s grey and horrid.”

Chris Redfern said: “Get rid of all those pigeons! There are flocks of them at the moment during the day and fly like a swarm all over where people sit and walk.”

Joseph Leivers said: “Clean it!” Peter Savage said he wanted to see “more shops, less drunks”.

Others really didn’t hold back, saying: “Knock it down. Start again.”
