Frank Lampard's honeymoon as Everton manager was ended on Tuesday night when his new side were beaten 3-1 at Newcastle United to heighten relegation fears.

The performance will not have come as a surprise to Lampard, who admitted he had come into the job with eyes wide open.

But it will still have come as a setback after the Blues started his reign in such impressive fashion with a 4-1 FA Cup victory over Brentford.
