The popular mock drafts have been a bit all over the place mocking players for the new Jim Harbaugh lead Los Angeles Chargers team. With the front end of free agency cooling down the Chargers may have tipped their hand on which position they may be looking out for at the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
It was a bit surprising to see the Chargers decide to cut talented deep ball receiver Mike Williams and then trading away franchise legend Keenan Allen for seemingly table scraps. These moves were made as a method to retain star edge rushing duo Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa as well and keep the Chargers within the NFL’s cap compliance. Could this also mean they see their future number one receiver in the upcoming draft?

Yes, the Chargers drafted Quentin Johnston in the first round of the 2023 draft, but the TCU standout really failed to make any noise despite having one of the better quarterbacks in the league throwing to him. So now the Chargers absolutely must find a way to replace the studs they allowed to leave the building, and they picked a good draft to do it.
Assuming all-world receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is selected before the Chargers first round pick, there are two receivers that grade out as top ten picks ripe for the taking. Both LSU receiver Malik Nabers and Washington receiver Rome Odunze fit the mold of top level draft picks who could come in day one and be the teams starting receiver. Justin Herbert and this Bolts offense is going to need some more juice on the outside, and the moves made this week could indicate that is exactly what they will look to do come April.
