Has the Gedling Access Road been worth the money? Let us know in our poll

A year since it opened, the Gedling Access Road continues to split opinions. The £49 million link, across the brow of Gedling, officially opened on March 22 last year with the aim of easing congestion in the village.

Three million vehicles have already travelled on the road, according to Nottinghamshire County Council. But the new 3.8km route, which connects the A612 to Mapperly Plains has not been away from the headlines.

The road was forced to close in January when a pothole opened up in a "big embarassment" for the council. It is pretty safe to say the GAR has divided opinions since it opened.

Some residents who live nearby say it hasn't made much difference to traffic in the village. Ryan Maguire, who lives in Mapperley, said: "The traffic's always been bad around here. I use it instead of Arnold Lane but I've not seen much difference."

However, others said they were "very positive" about the major road. "I think it's great, there isn't as much traffic congestion as I thought there would be," said a 77-year-old man who has lived in Clementine Drive for six years.

We want to know what you think. Has the road been worth the £49 million?
