CHANDIGARH/SHIMLA: Haryana on Thursday reported 872 new Covid-19 cases, highest of fourth round so far, and 671 recoveries during the day. Sudden surge took the positivity rate of the day to 5.76%. Punjab recorded 113 new cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 7,61,734. The state also registered two Covid deaths in Ludhiana. Himachal Pradesh reported 47 new cases of Covid-19 on Thursday along with 27 recoveries and a death from Shimla district.
In Haryana, Gurgaon reported the highest — 497 cases — followed by 181 cases from Faridabad. As many as 39 cases were reported from Panchkula, 29 from Hisar,26 from Ambala, 16 from Karnal, 15 from Rohtak and 13 cases from Sirsa.
Nine cases were reported from Jind followed by eight from Panipat, Rewari and Jhajjar districts. Six cases were reported from Sonipat followed by four cases from Kaithal.
Three cases each were reported from Kurukshetra and Fatehabad while two cases each were reported from Palwal, Mahendergarh and Yamunanagar district. While one case was reported from Bhiwani.
The new cases of Himachal were in Kangra (25), Mandi (6), Solan (5), Chamba (3), Bilaspur, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla (2 each), and Sirmaur and Una (1 each). Kangra (9), Shimla (7), Mandi (4), Solan (3), Kullu (2), and Sirmaur and Una (1) reported new recoveries.
