CHANDIGARH: As the delayed arrival of coal rakes keeps Haryana’s thermal power plants underfed, the state is left with just 11 days of fuel stock, a critical situation for the electricity distribution companies.
Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited (HPGCL) has deployed its officers at the coal mines to ensure that the rakes leave for the state every alternate day. The state needs 80 metric tonnes of coal every day to fire three units of Panipat Thermal Power Station (PTPL) two units at Yamunanangar, and one unit each at Khedar and Jhajjar. A senior official in the HPGCL said: “We are hope to get coal rakes from Monday. Haryana’s stock situation is better than the other states, which are now forced to even use the scratched leftover that can damage the plants’ rotors.”
