Harshit Rana Undergoes Knee Surgery, Ruled Out of T20 World Cup and IPL

Rana sustained the injury during a warm-up match against South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium and was officially ruled out on the eve of India’s opening fixture against the USA. Medical assessments later confirmed damage to the lateral meniscus, requiring surgical intervention.

According to sources, the surgery was performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwalla at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Following the procedure, Rana has been advised a period of rest before beginning a structured rehabilitation program.

Once he starts recovery, the young pacer will report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, where his progress will be closely monitored by the board’s medical team.

While Rana’s absence from the T20 World Cup has already been confirmed, sources indicate that his recovery timeline could also force him to miss a major portion of the upcoming IPL season, with the possibility of being sidelined for the entire tournament.

Rana’s injury comes as a setback for Indian cricket, especially given his recent rise and impressive performances, and the team management will be hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery ahead of future international assignments.
