Harry Styles has had his say on former bandmate Liam Payne's bizarre new accent, following the Wolverhampton-born star's much-talked about Oscars interview.
Speaking on Capital Breakfast this morning, Harry, 28, admitted his own accent is "a little bit all over the place", but he tries to "translate" his manner of speaking depending on who he is with.
All the elocution chat comes after former One Direction star Liam, 28, baffled Good Morning Britain viewers with his ever-changing accent and American twang during a red-carpet interview at the Oscars on Sunday night.
As Liam discussed the shocking moment which saw Will Smith slap comedian Chris Rock for a joke he made about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, the Midlands singer's analysis and comments went viral thanks to his brand new accent.
As Liam's former One Direction pal Harry joined Sonny Jay and Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast this morning, the radio presenters couldn't resist asking the Watermelon Sugar singer what he thought of his former bandmate's new accent.
"Now speaking of homes, now you’re not actually at home, at the moment, you’re in America, but we’ve seen some pretty wild accents from the 1D boys, and specifically from Mr Liam Payne at the Oscars red carpet, now I’ve got to ask you, have you sort of started to get a transatlantic accent from America at all?" Sonny asked the singer, who is currently promoting his upcoming movies and new music.
"Well don’t think in the time that I just got here, because I only got in yesterday for Coachella rehearsals, so in the space I’ve been here this trip I think I’ve survived," Harry began his diplomatic response.
"I think it’s a little bit all over the place because I’m from up north and I’ve lived in London for 10 years and I’ve spent a lot of time in America and stuff and I think when I’m with Americans they don’t think I sound American at all, and then I think sometimes when I’m with English people they expect me to sound American, I don’t think I do, but I try and translate for whoever I’m with!"
Elsewhere in his latest interview, Harry revealed how music will always take priority over his blossoming acting career.
The star is set to appear in a number of films later this year - including Don't Worry Darling, a psychological thriller directed by Harry's girlfriend Olivia Wilde.
Speaking about his multiple talents on the radio this morning, the former X Factor contestant was asked whether he sees himself as "an artist first or an actor first"
"I mean I think I’m a musician first," Harry replied to Roman live on-air.
"I feel really lucky to get to do a job that I love and I feel very grateful to have been able to explore acting, something I did when I was a kid and stuff at school and I always really loved it and in this context it’s been a really nice opportunity for me to get very much out of my comfort zone and start again, it’s been a lot of fun."
