Harry Styles lacks emotion on CBeebies Bedtime Stories

CBeebies Bedtime Story had a special guest sit on the big yellow chair for tonight's bedtime story. Harry Styles read Jess Hitchman's Every House, On Every Street for pre-school viewers across the nation but many viewers thought he could have put more effort into the reading.

Styles, who recently released his third album Harry's House, rose to stardom while in the band One Direction. The band were formed during X Factor's seventh series. Styles decided to launch a solo career in 2016 and dropped his self-titled album in 2017.

Less than a decade into his solo career, he has received several accolades including Brit Awards, a Grammy Award, an American Music Award and an Ivor Novello Award. Aside from music, he made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan's 2017 war film Dunkirk.

The 28-year-old is also well known for his elaborate fashion sense and has become the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue magazine. He sported the same fashion to tonight's Bedtime Story.

Styles wore spotted blue and brown pyjamas, accessorised with a chunky beaded necklace and a collection of eye-catching rings in true Styles fashion. It wouldn't be the Watermelon High hit-maker if his yellow nails didn't match the bright armchair.

The star read Hitchman's Every House, On Every Street, which is illustrated by Lili la Baleine. The book is a "heartwarming celebration of homes and the different families that live in them". Introducing the episode, Styles said: “Tonight’s bedtime story is about a house full of love and laughter.”

The episode featuring Styles was no more than eight minutes and while some viewers were gasping for more, some were left disappointed.

@chl_hobbs tweeted: "Blimey, Harry! Put a bit of effort in! #BedtimeStories #CBeebiesBedtimeStories."

@jackfaulkner tweeted: "I might not be as fashionable as Harry Styles, I can’t sing and I’m not as handsome. But judging by the CBeebies bedtime story just now, I read a bedtime story a hundred percent better."

@Jaymi_Niall69 said: "He really showed no emotion."

Nevertheless, Styles ended the story on a high with a sweet summary: "It doesn’t matter whether you live in a house, a flat or a boat, it’s love that turns wherever you live into a home."

Styles is one of the many celebrities who have read a story on the CBeebies show. Previously, Rose Ayling-Ellis became the first celebrity guest to read her story in British Sign Language. Other celebrities who have also shared the pleasure include The Duchess of Cambridge, Tom Hiddleston, Dave Grohl and Ellie Goulding.
