Dundee United could be set to land up to £3million from Harry Souttar’s pending move.
Leicester City have tabled a £15 million bid plus add-ons to Stoke City for their 6ft 6in defender. Brendan Rodgers is looking to push through a deal for the Australian international before tomorrow night’s deadline, in which United would be entitled to a 20 percent sell-on. That was part of the original agreement when the Tangerines sold Souttar to Stoke back in 2016.
Souttar, who is the brother of Rangers star John, was just a kid at the time, but has since developed into one of the top players at the Potteries. The 24-year-old has really come to the fore after starring for the Socceroos at the World Cup. Several English Premier League clubs are interested, but Leicester look to be the front runners. The cash would give United a welcome boost as they look to do some late transfer work in the window.
Souttar made his debut for at Tannadice aged just 17. He scored his first professional goal just four days later against Kilmarnock to put himself on the map.
The bid comes after Stoke's Scottish boss Alex Neil claimed that they would not lose Souttar despite obvious interest from clubs in England's top-flight. Neil said "It'll be highly doubtful, at this stage, that Soutts will be leaving."
