Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane's ashes scattered at his favourite New York spots

Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane's ashes have been scattered at a few of his favourite spots in New York.

The Scots actor sadly passed away aged 72 in October last year.

Robbie loved New York City and said he "practically lived" there in the 1970s.

His loved ones decided to scatter his ashes around the city including where the famous orgasm scene happens in the movie When Harry Met Sally, writes The Mirror.

Robbie adored Katz's Delicatessen on the Lower East Side and previously spoke about his love for it, Robbie said: "Oh, the smell when they'd take the pastrami out of the oven. They put my photograph up, three down from Frank Sinatra. Proudest moment of my life."

Katz's is extremely popular with New Yorkers but found further fame when it was the filming spot for the 1989 romcom and the infamous scene where Meg Ryan's Sally fakes an orgasm, prompting a fellow diner to tell a waitress: "I'll have what she's having."

Robbie "practically lived" in New York in the 1970s and it was while he was there that he got his big break as filmmaker Amos Poe cast him in the 1979 thriller Subway Riders.

Poe went along with Robbie's son, Spencer McMillan and his sister Alice as they scattered the ashes around Manhattan.

As well as Katz, other spots Robbie's ashes were scattered at included Washington Square Park and the independent cinema The New York Film Forum.

Poe wrote on social media: "Look at who stopped by, like the lost Scottish son of sorts, Spencer McMillan. He brings his father's – Robbie Coltrane's – ashes to spread in his beloved New York. Honoured and befitting. First stop Washington Square Park… then Katz's deli, pastrami counter… the Film Forum…"

According to Robbie's death certificate, he passed away from a string of conditions including multiple organ failure.

It is believed that the 6ft 1in actor was unwell for some time, with other causes listed including diabetes, obesity and sepsis.
