Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe opens up on someone else playing boy wizard

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has spoken about how he feels about other actors potentially stepping in to offer their takes on the famous boy wizard role.

The English actor was speaking in an interview with Deadline about his latest starring role in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, where he plays the innovative 80s musician when the subject of the potential new Harry Potter TV adaptation was raised.

And the star, who played Harry Potter for over a decade across the eight films, was only happy to discuss the idea that there will be a new actor taking up the mantle in a new Warner Bros series which will also be based on the best selling books.

According to the studio, the series will last at least as long as the film franchise, with each season supposedly set to focus on each book separately if plans go ahead, according to the Daily Record.

Speaking about the Harry Potter role, he compared it to another famous literary character come TV and Film star, he said: “I think it’s like Harry Potter was always destined to become like Sherlock Holmes.

“The people that saw Basil Rathbone play Sherlock Holmes then like ‘No one could ever do this!’ They’re going to, though. It’ll get passed on to somebody.”

However, he does have reservations about the fact another child actor will face the same journey he did.

He added: “The weird thought I have now is like, ‘Oh that’s probably like an 8-year-old kid out there somewhere whose life is going to change in a couple years.’ My brain does go there.”
