Harry Potter series ramps up security after death threats to cast

Harry Potter Paapa Essiedu Severus Snape JK Rowling

The upcoming Harry Potter television series has a “serious security” presence in place after a cast member received death threats, according to a senior executive.

Paapa Essiedu, who will play Professor Severus Snape in the new adaptation, revealed he was targeted with racist abuse online following his casting, including messages threatening to kill him.
