Even Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) is shocked by the enduring popularity of Harry Potter. The franchise began with the publication of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in September 1998. The book series ran until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released in July 2007. The movie franchise, meanwhile, began with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on November 16, 2001, and ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 on July 15, 2011.
Despite the mainline movies ending over a decade ago, Harry Potter and the Wizarding World has enjoyed enduring popularity. In an interview, Felton admitted that he never expected the franchise to remain so renowned after the movies ended. He can see why there is still such a large community, but he never thought that the Potter legacy would persist for so long.
