Harry McKirdy Hibs blow as Lee Johnson expresses 'real shock' with surgery required after scans

Harry McKirdy will be OUT for up to six months as Lee Johnson expressed his 'real shock'.

The striker reported back for pre-season with all his Hibs team-mates and underwent the usual scans and testing to ensure he was fit and healthy for the campaign ahead. However, the scans revealed an issue and after further investigation and seeing a specialist, it has been confirmed he will need surgery to rectify his problem.

McKirdy - who had been linked with a loan move away from Easter Road with Leyton Orient one of the clubs reportedly keen - will now spend a significant period out on the sidelines in a real shock to both the club and player.

Johnson says everyone must now rally around the hitman and give him as much support as possible with the club medical team confident he will return to full fitness following his rehab period.

Speaking to the Hibs website, Johnson said: “This has come as a real shock for us all and has been a tough few days for Harry as we came to the bottom of what the scans meant.

“We’re all with him, have to rally around him and give him as much support as possible.

“We have a first-class medical department that will look after him and make sure he comes back fit and healthy.”
