Hibs have been handed a boost in their bid to finally give new striker Harry McKirdy his long-awaited full debut as the Englishman continues to count down the days until he can pull on a green shirt at Easter Road.
McKirdy signed in bizarre circumstances on transfer deadline day with boss Lee Johnson pining for his signing. The star, who plied his trade at Swindon Town, signed in a deal thought to be worth around £300,000 - after talks with the Robins broke down in the evening, only to be resurrected in an 11th-hour move by Easter Road chiefs.
With Martin Boyle and McKirdy likely to be the strike duo for the coming season, Hibs fans are itching to see their new man fully in action, though that has been set back by a one-match suspension he picked up at the County Ground in a game against Salford City over a month ago.
It remained to be seen when that would be due to the complexities surrounding his suspension.
McKirdy further received a three-match ban for his outburst to his card, reportedly taking his frustration out by decimating the changing rooms before entering the referee's kit room and throwing a protein shake against the walls, covering the officials' change of clothes. He missed the league tie against Stockport and a Papa John's trophy tie against Crystal Palace under-23's at the end of August before he moved to the Scottish capital.
It was then unsure as to which games he would miss as a result of his transfer, with suspensions in Scotland not beginning until a fortnight after becoming a Hibee. There was an assumption that he would be available for the ties against Kilmarnock last week and Dundee United on Saturday, the latter of which was postponed due to the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on Thursday evening.
However, with those games bygone, it means McKirdy will now miss just the game against Aberdeen this weekend - allowing his full debut to be made against Ross County in Dingwall on October 1.
