Harry Kane transfer twist as Manchester United target cut-price striker and Liverpool rivals get 'green light'

Liverpool wasted no time in signing Alexis Mac Allister this summer and the countdown is on for Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team to make their next grand statement in the transfer market.

A number of midfielders continue to be linked with the club - while the Reds are keeping an eye on Khephren Thuram, Ryan Gravenberch and others - as they plot further moves to improve their engine room.

Klopp is also open to bringing in a left-sided central defender to provide competition and cover in that position. He has Micky van de Ven high up on his shopping list.

Naturally, the rumour mill keeps on throwing out several high-profile names, on an hour-by-hour basis. Here are the latest snippets involving their predicted top-four rivals for next season;

Manchester City

Bernardo Silva is reportedly the latest Premier League superstar being lined-up for a blockbuster summer move to the Saudi Pro League as speculation over his Manchester City future rumbles on. Interest in the Portugal player, 28, has been underlined by The Daily Mail with Al-Hilal 'pushing hard' for his signature.

Having helped City win the treble last season, Bernardo seemingly has £75m-plus in wages waiting for him. PSG are thought to be long-term admirers, too, while a return transfer closer to home is not off the cards.

Manchester United

Manchester United could be about to snap-up one of their prime targets for half the price this summer.

That's according to reports from The Daily Mail as they suggest Eintracht Frankfurt are prepared to cash-in on their striker Randal Kolo Muani for £53m having previously valued him at £100m-plus. United are tracking England captain Harry Kane and alternative options in their quest to strengthen in attacking quarters.

Kane, 29, is thought to be their first choice. However, with Tottenham seemingly reluctant to do business with their Premier League rivals, players such as Rasmus Hojland and Muani are now being considered.

Arsenal

Despite late complications over their swoop for Declan Rice - with Manchester City also interested - Arsenal have more promising news when it comes to signing centre-back Jurrien Timber from Ajax this summer. Timber has been tentatively linked with Liverpool and Manchester United over the past two seasons.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano indicates the Gunners will press forward with their interest over the next few days. No would-be transfer fee has been mooted for the 22-year-old Netherlands starlet.

Chelsea

Chelsea have been given the green light to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo for £80m after Arsenal pulled out of the race for his signature. That's according to reports from Football Insider - and other publications.

As mentioned above, the Gunners want to snap-up England international Rice from West Ham this summer and it means they are prepared to let the Blues have a free run at Caicedo as a result. The 21-year-old has impressed with Brighton and is, effectively, being pursued as a replacement for Saudi-bound N'Golo Kante.

The article adds Chelsea are the only club currently in discussions with the Seagulls over a move.

Newcastle United

Sandro Tonali might not be the only Serie A game-changer Newcastle set their sights on this summer - as reports from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio highlight proposed interest in Theo Hernandez from AC Milan and Juventus star, Federico Chiesa, amid question marks over their futures.

Closing in on a €70m deal for Sandro, the Saudi-backed Magpies apparently have defender Hernandez and Chiesa firmly in their sights. No potential fee has been mentioned for the former, but Liverpool-linked Italy forward Chiesa has been priced up at around €60m with Aston Villa also lurking.
