Marcel Desailly has told Harry Kane to try “something different” and leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Pressure is beginning to mount on the England captain as the 2022-23 campaign approaches its final furlong. With one year left on his contract, Kane - who turns 30 in June - is heavily linked with a move away.
There were suggestions the striker could leave Spurs two years ago amid interest from Manchester City - but a deal never materialised. However, Kane’s trophy cabinet remains bare despite Tottenham appointing serial winner Antonio Conte.

Clubs are bound to be circling given his contract situation but Daniel Levy will not allow him to leave on the cheap. Former Chelsea defender Desailly believes Kane should take matters into his own hands and demand a transfer from North London.
“When I was playing, Tottenham were in the same situation,” Desailly told beIN Sports. “No leadership, nothing. How many trophies have they won since 98 until now? It’s something (not winning trophies) that will be repeated.
“As we’ve said, he might get a good contract or they might renew. But (Robert) Lewandowski, he moved from a different type of club like Bayern Munich to face something different, achieve something different. Trophy… language… culture.
“Something different that you keep after football. So he has to really wake up and either bring better leadership into the system as Conte has revealed, or he has to move.
“Don’t be afraid, there’s a life after Tottenham. Don’t be afraid. This is what I’d like to tell him.”
