Harry Kane could be sold in extraordinary swap transfer with Eden Hazard going other way

Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer in a deal that could see Eden Hazard go the other way.

Kane, 29, is out of contract in North London next summer and this is likely to be the last opportunity Spurs have to cash in on the striker before risking him leaving as a free agent. Their preference is to sell him to a club outside of England and not to a direct rival.

The England international is on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s target list this summer as he is on red alert to sign a central striker at Old Trafford. United are desperate to sign an elite central striker and believe Kane’s contractual situation will mean that a deal is possible.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not keen on overseeing the striker’s exit to a Premier League rival. An exit to a leading European club, such as Real Madrid, would overcome this obstacle and would mean Kane does not come up as an opponent for Tottenham – who are on course to miss out on European qualification entirely this season.

A report from Spanish radio station Cadena Ser outlines how the outgoing Spanish and European champions have received an offer to sign Kane from an intermediary. They are currently evaluating the option.

Real Madrid ’s main striker Karim Benzema is now aged 35 and they have agreed to sign young Brazilian talent Endrick from Palmeiras. However, the teenager cannot join the club for another two years and Kane could bridge the time gap between the two talents.

Kane would comfortably fit into Madrid’s system and requirements of a central forward, less focused on pressing than other top clubs but which would allow him to drop deep and link up with play.

The same report adds that Hazard could go the other way. The Belgian is Real Madrid’s club record signing but things have gone badly wrong for him in terms of form and fitness in the Spanish capital, netting just seven goals across four seasons and being a bit-part player.

Hazard has started just two La Liga games this season and the club are desperate to offload him, believing that the Premier League – where he starred for Chelsea – could provide a market. The playmaker could be transferred to Spurs to help sweeten the deal for Kane.
