Harry Gration's wife shares her 'disbelief' after beloved husband & former BBC presenter dies

Harry Gration's wife has shared her 'disbelief' in an emotional tribute following her husband's death.

Taking to social media, Helen spoke of her gratitude for everyone who had left kind messages and sincere condolences after the passing of her 71-year-old husband and BBC presenter.

She wrote: "The boys & I would like to thank everyone sincerely for the beautiful things here about Harry. We are in such disbelief that his chair remains empty today & his coffee cup unused.

"We’ll try to reply as much as possible in time. We love him & miss him totally. Helen xx #RIPHarry."

Harry was best known as the host of BBC Yorkshire's Look North news show. He joined the broadcasters in 1982, with his final appearance coming in 2020.

When announcing Harry's death live on air, BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia broke down in tears, The Mirror reports.

Her voice broke as she said: As we close the programme tonight, I have some very sad news to share with you all. Our much loved friend and colleague Harry Gration very suddenly died today."

She continued: "We all at Look North are absolutely devastated to give you this news. Next week will give our time to pay tribute to Harry properly as that's what he deserves."

BBC Yorkshire added in a statement on Twitter : "Our much loved friend and colleague Harry Gration died suddenly today. We are absolutely heartbroken to give you this news. Tonight our hearts go out to Harry's wife Helen, their children and all of Harry's family and friends."

In a statement to the BBC yesterday, Harry's wife Helen said: "He will forever be with us. Our three boys and I loved Harry totally. We had an awful lot of fun with him and our home was his life."
