Harry Gration's wife has shared her "disbelief" as she shared an emotional tribute, the day after it was announced that the BBC presenter had died suddenly, aged 71.
Taking to Twitter, Helen thanked everyone who had left kind messages and condolences after news of the BBC Yorkshire stalwart's passing was shared across social media after the broadcaster announced his death.
She wrote: "The boys & I would like to thank everyone sincerely for the beautiful things here about Harry.
"We are in such disbelief that his chair remains empty today & his coffee cup unused.
"We’ll try to reply as much as possible in time. We love him & miss him totally.Helen xx #RIPHarry "
Harry was best known for hosting BBC Yorkshire's Look North news. He joined the show in 1982 with his final appearance in 2020.
When announcing Harry's death live on air, BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia broke down in tears.
Her voice broke as she said: As we close the programme tonight, I have some very sad news to share with you all. Our much loved friend and colleague Harry Gration very suddenly died today."
She continued: "We all at Look North are absolutely devastated to give you this news.
"Next week will give our time to pay tribute to Harry properly as that's what he deserves."
BBC Yorkshire added in a statement on Twitter : "Our much loved friend and colleague Harry Gration died suddenly today. We are absolutely heartbroken to give you this news.
"Tonight our hearts go out to Harry's wife Helen, their children and all of Harry's family and friends."
In a statement to the BBC yesterday, Harry's wife Helen said: "He will forever be with us.
"Our three boys and I loved Harry totally. We had an awful lot of fun with him and our home was his life."
