Prince Harry was "fooling himself" if he thought wife Meghan Markle and sister-in-law the Princess of Wales were going to be "best of buddies", a royal expert has said.
The Duke of Sussex takes aim at Kate in his memoir Spare and shared details of a row over bridesmaids' dresses at the time of his wedding, which left Meghan in tears.
In a TV interview, he also accused Kate of "stereotyping" Meghan Markle, saying her behaviour created a barrier.
And editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine and royal biographer Ingrid Seward believes that Kate will be "upset and angry" with Harry for speaking out about her.
She told the Mirror: "If Harry thought Kate and Meghan were going to be the best of buddies, he was fooling himself.
"Harry was always Kate's friend and the arrival of someone as uncompromising as Meghan completely upset the dynamic between them.
"Meghan’s all-American openness was completely at odds with Kate’s polite formality. Kate was also too tall, too beautiful and too perfect for Meghan not to be envious.
"She tried to hug Kate, but this was not reciprocated. She then blamed Kate’s forgetfulness on her hormones after the birth of baby Louis. Kate was furious. They disagreed over many issues some small some not so.
"But if she was in the wrong Kate had the good manners to apologise. Meghan did not.
"She did not understand the British way of doing things. William reminded her rebuking her and poking his finger in her face to make a point. Understandably she did not like that.
"Kate mistrusted Meghan who wouldn’t listen to anything she didn’t want to hear. Meghan knew Kate disapproved of her keeping gifts showered on her by fashion houses as that is not the royal way. But she did it anyway as that was her way.
"Kate will be upset and angry with Prince Harry, but more for William than herself."
It comes as a pensive-looking Kate was seen for the first time today since the release of the book.
She was spotted behind the wheel of her car following the school run this morning after Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis returned to class following the Christmas holidays.
She, Prince William and King Charles have told aides it is “business as usual” and will visit communities across the UK on Thursday.
The King will attend a community group close to his Scottish home, Balmoral, and William and Kate are due at a community engagement in the north of England.
Ingrid Seward is editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and a royal biographer.
