Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want an apology from the Royal family before they attend King Charles' coronation, according to reports. It is claimed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have requested a ‘sit-down meeting’ with senior members of the Royal Family following the release of their bombshell documentary on Netflix.
According to the Mirror, the couple are said to want The Firm to ‘take responsibility’ for the pain they have been put through over the last few years. A source close to Harry and Meghan, who stepped down as senior royals almost two years ago, told The Times that the pair want the meeting to be held before they attend King Charles’ coronation in May.
According to the news outlet, the couple were particularly upset that the Palace organised a reconciliation between charity boss Ngozi Fulani, and Lady Susan Hussey, a former lady-in-waiting after allegations of racism were made. Harry and Meghan reportedly viewed this meeting, where Hussey apologised for her comments, as a ‘double standard’ due to the fact they have never been extended a similar olive branch.
The pair are also said to be disappointed by the lack of response from the Firm over the several issues raised over the six-episode documentary. The source said: "Nothing like that was ever done when Harry and Meghan raised various concerns — no meeting, formal apology or taking responsibility or accountability.
"That is hard to swallow — 100 percent yes they’d like to have a meeting.”
In the final three episodes of the explosive docuseries, Harry said he would have "to make peace with the fact we’re probably never going to get genuine accountability or a genuine apology" from the Royal family. Meanwhile, King Charles and Prince William plan to remain silent as the second instalment of the series is released.
Those close to the father and son say they did not watch any of the episodes, but have been given a run-down during aides’ briefings. Royal insiders believe Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the family could be completely destroyed after the Duke claimed William bullied them out of the Firm.
The Royal Family and Harry and Meghan were approached for comment.
