Harry and Meghan Netflix deal to continue as spokesperson confirms bright future

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix deal has been confirmed to be continuing despite speculation it might follow the same fate as their Spotify deal which was axed last week.

A spokesperson for the streaming giant has confirmed that the company "deeply values" their partnership with Archewell Productions, which is set to release a brand new documentary on the platform later this summer.

They shut down all rumours on Harry and Meghan's Netflix deal being cancelled as they added that their "exciting journey" with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "isn't ending anytime soon".

It was revealed earlier this month that Spotify was cutting ties with Archewell Audio meaning Meghan's award-winning podcast Archetypes was axed after just one season, the Express reports.

The couple released a joint statement with the digital music streaming platform to confirm that they had "mutually agreed to part ways" but were very "proud of the series we made together".

Meghan won top Entertainment Podcast Host at the Gracie Awards just weeks before Archetypes was cancelled after 12 episodes.

Since then, there had been rumours circulating that Netflix would follow suit after Dan Wootton claimed in his column that the streaming giant were not pleased with the Sussexes output.

However, the broadcaster has been proved wrong by a Netflix spokesperson who stepped out to definitely squash these reports.

The spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight: "The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date.

"Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus."

Heart of Invictus is set to be released in August this year and the show will follow a group of service people around as they get ready to compete in the Invictus Games tournament which are held in The Hague.

The couple's history with Netflix has been mixed so far as their controversial docuseries Harry & Meghan was one of last year's biggest hits for the streaming giant.

The six part documentary saw the royal couple open about their relationship and make a number of shocking allegations against the royal family during their own personal experiences at the Firm.

However, despite their success, a number of the royal couple's ideas have allegedly been turned down in the past.

Another one of their projects which was an animated series called Pearl about a 12-year-old girl who is inspired by powerful women in history was cancelled by Netflix due to too many cutbacks.

Meghan was set to be an executive producer on the series alongside Elton John's husband David Furnish but the show was reportedly still in the development stages when it was cancelled.

Speaking about the series at the time the Duchess said: "Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.

"I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.

"David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today."
