As the 2024 campaign season heats up, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have both released new television advertisements in a bid to gain an advantage in the upcoming election.
Harris's one-minute ad showcases her as a 'fearless' leader, highlighting her political journey from her days as a courtroom prosecutor in California. The Democratic nominee, who recently stepped into the spotlight following President Joe Biden's decision not to seek reelection, is working to introduce herself to voters. The ad is airing during popular programs like the Olympics, the Bachelorette, and the Daily Show.
The Harris campaign plans to launch a $50 million advertising blitz leading up to the Democratic National Convention in August.
On the other side, Trump's 30-second ad focuses on Harris's involvement in migration issues, labeling her as the 'border czar' and holding her responsible for illegal border crossings. The ad criticizes her as 'Failed. Weak. Dangerously liberal,' citing headlines about crime and drugs. While border crossings surged during the early days of the Biden administration, they have since declined.
Trump's campaign has already allocated $12.2 million for television and digital ads over the next two weeks. Data from media tracking firm AdImpact indicates that the Harris campaign's advertising spending was not available at the time of reporting.
