'Hardworking lad' who went out to celebrate 21st birthday in city centre never came home

It's five years since Sam Cook was killed in a nightclub as he celebrated his 21st birthday. The horrors of that October night will never leave his mum, Gill Radcliffe.

Gill says it "feels like yesterday" since her son was killed in Liverpool city centre. Sam was celebrating his milestone birthday when he was stabbed in the heart by Carl Madigan, in Empire nightclub, on October 21, 2017.

Five years on from the day Sam was murdered, Gill said it doesn't get any easier. As reported by the Liverpool Echo, she has flashbacks and the trauma of losing her only son has left her with PTSD.
