THE comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli has been arrested and charged after allegations of sexual offences emerged.
Police Scotland said the alleged crimes were "non-recent" and that the 54-year-old has been released.
He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences.
"He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
"A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
It comes after prominent Edinburgh Fringe venue, the Pleasance, banned Kohli from all 27 of its venues after concerns were raised about his behaviour towards women.
Another Fringe operator, the Gilded Balloon, had already banned the comedian from its venues.
