Hardcore Elvis fans married by impersonator singing Suspicious Minds

As hardcore fans, Greg and Angela Robinson didn’t mind Elvis singing Suspicious Minds as they wed.

Greg says: “It just made us laugh and still makes us laugh now. Every time we hear it now we giggle and think ‘Ah yep, that’s what we got married to’.”

Greg, 50, proposed in front of the Bellagio Hotel fountains with the marriage licence in his back pocket.

Angela, 49, says: “We were on a US road trip and had just got to Sin City when Greg handed me a piece of paper and said, ‘Fancy doing this?’”

The pair, who run the Hulaballoo vintage clothing shop in Pontypridd, Wales, were married at The Little Vegas Chapel on May 2, 2018, by an impersonator in a gold lamé jacket.

Greg’s wedding vows included the lines: “Honey, I promise always to love you tender. I promise to never leave you crying in the chapel or in the ghetto.”

Angela replied with: “I promise always to take you as my big hunka hunka burning love.

“I promise always to love you tender and never treat you like a hound dog for you will always be my teddy bear.”

Afterwards they enjoyed lobster lollipops and strawberry margaritas and watched Cher live in concert at the Park Theatre.

Angela says: “It’s silly to be worrying about ‘Elvis quality control’. Nobody takes it that seriously. You’re not expecting someone to fully personify Elvis. It should be about the joy that Elvis brings.”

Greg agrees, saying: “It’s one of the reasons that people go to Vegas. You see shows and you gamble and you get married with an Elvis impersonator.

“I researched into the type of Elvis impersonators we might get… none of them seemed to be disrespectful to the King’s memory. So let them continue to give couples the day of their lives.”
