The cast of Happy Valley is equally as in the dark as to how the hit BBC show will end in upcoming episodes, one of the stars has said.
BBC viewers were overjoyed to see the show – which stars Sarah Lancashire as the police community officer for the West Yorkshire Police Department – make its return after years off air.
Happy Valley viewers were treated to another stellar episode of the highly anticipated issue of the BBC One show on Sunday evening as part of the third and final season.
Amit Shah, who plays troubled pharmacist Faisal Bhatti on the BBC hit, has now said the show filmed multiple endings to the gritty crime drama.
Speaking on the Obsessed With…Happy Valley podcast, Amit admitted to being kept in the dark about what will happen to his character.
The star said: “I still don’t know how it all ends up for him. We filmed the final scenes in various different ways.”
This comes as fans have now speculated that Sergeant Catherine Cawood and psychopath Tommy Lee Royce will meet one last time before the end of the season.
Some fans of the BBC drama noted that the writers were hinting at Catherine meeting her demise, as the show aired some big scenes which saw Tommy escape custody during his sentencing.
The latest fourth episode ended on a huge cliff-hanger as Tommy, played by James Norton, managed to abscond from custody during his sentencing.
There was a fight in the courtroom halls and he managed to escape by distracting security staff.
Shouting “I'm police”, he ran out of the courtroom before the doors were locked behind him. He headed into a newsagents, before disguising himself as a cyclist and riding off in disguise into the world, specifically through the centre of Leeds.
Fans now believe there is a looming confrontation in store between him and Sergeant Cawood in coming episodes.
Viewers of the gritty BBC drama have fallen in love with its West Yorkshire landscape.
Writer Sally Wainwright conceived the show as a tribute to her native Calder Valley and the locations are becoming hot spots for tourists.
The former mill town of Hebden Bridge is known for its independent spirit, sense of community and activism ever since hippies squatted in empty buildings in the 1970s.
The next Happy Valley episode hits BBC One screens on Sunday at 9pm.
