Happy Valley star Con O'Neill has said that viewers can look forward to an "extraordinary" ending to the series as the final ever episode approaches.
Con, who plays Neil Ackroyd in the BBC series, remained tight-lipped on what fans can expect in Sunday's finale - but teased that they are in for a treat. The last episode saw Neil still firmly in Sergeant Catherine Cawood's bad books after he and partner Clare went behind her back to help grandson Ryan visit his murderous dad Tommy Lee Royce in prison.
With Tommy on the run and Clare, Neil and Ryan in hiding, there's no telling who will make it to the end of the series alive as the closing scenes of the penultimate episode saw Catherine vow to hunt Tommy down once and for all as he attempted to lure Ryan into fleeing abroad with him. It's been quite the ride for fans, who have waited seven years to find out whether Catherine will finally get to enjoy her retirement.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning, Con said: "When I read the script for the last episode it blew my mind. Sally [Wainwright] has written an extraordinary ending to the show."
The actor isn't the only one to have given fans a tantalising glimpse of what they're in for this Sunday. Director Fergus O'Brien shared that viewers are in for a "rollercoaster" ending, which he said will leave fans "sad but satisfied."
Speaking on Shrine Podcasts, Fergus said: "You can expect to be thrilled. I literally can't tell you anything plot-wise because I would be hunted down probably.
"But it's really exciting. I've re-watched it recently for some reason or other and I remember looking at the time code and I was 16 minutes in and I couldn't believe how much stuff has happened."
In case you weren't already on the edge of your seat, he added: "It's a rollercoaster. It picks you up and flings you around and slaps you against the wall, slaps you in the face and wallops you across the room."
