Catherine's sister Clare pops up in the trailer for the final episode - with some fans pondering if she could be the Cawood who dies during Sunday night's finale.

Chatting in the last episode of Happy Valley over the weekend, Clare revealed how Nev had kindly offered to put them all up in one of his holiday homes in Spain until Tommy is captured and returned to prison - delighted at the idea of a break in the sun with her sibling.

Catherine slammed the suggestion, telling Clare: "You're the last person I'd go on holiday with Clare and that moron you spend your days with.

"We've got nothing in common, you bore me, you have this idiotic, dependent personality."

Before heading to work, she goes on to tell her sister: "Just keep an eye on Ryan and know, whatever, I've done my best for you, all of you...so whatever. Right, good luck."

Ahead of Sunday night's final episode, Happy Valley fans think Catherine's tense conversation with Clare could be the last time she ever talks to her sibling.

"Now I’ve seen the trailer for the final ep I think it’s Claire not Richard who is going to die. #happyvalley," one mused on Twitter as the trailer dropped on Tuesday.

Another wrote: "Clare feels so guilty she tries to do something ‘brave’ & gets in danger, trying to save her sister/Ryan. Does (expendable secretive) Neil die saving her at last min? Ryan sets Tommy up but ends up having to choose his Gran or his ‘dad’? I feel a *big* loss coming #HappyValley."

"Claire is going to be killed, isn’t she? #HappyValley," a third added, with another predicting: "Think Claire’s a goner! She’ll die saving Catherine or Ryan. And Catherine will have to live with the guilt of the last thing she said to her."

*The final episode of Happy Valley airs this Sunday at 9pm on BBC One
