Happy Valley viewers think they've spotted a sinister tell one of the show's good guys may not be as innocent as they seem.
Ahead of the eagerly-anticipated finale of the BBC series airing this weekend, fans of the popular crime drama are busy trying to work out how Sally Wainwright will wrap things up following murderous villain Tommy Lee Royce's escape from court.
The penultimate episode of the long-running series saw rapist Tommy (James Norton) taken to a safe house to lie low for five days before being smuggled to Marbella to put his Spanish lessons in prison to use - possibly alongside his son Ryan Cawood.
As Tommy prepared to flee to the Costa del Crime, Sarah Lancashire's character Catherine Cawood and her family gathered in millionaire Nevison Gallagher huge property as they tried to figure out how to keep safe while Tommy plans his first jaunt abroad.
Chatting to her sister, Clare Cawood revealed Nev had kindly offered to put them all up in one of his holiday homes in Spain until Tommy is captured and returned to prison - delighted at the idea of a break in the sun with her sibling.
Catherine slammed the suggestion, telling Clare: "You're the last person I'd go on holiday with Clare and that moron you spend your days with.
"We've got nothing in common, you bore me, you have this idiotic, dependent personality."
While viewers on Twitter reacted to the brutal exchange, some fans of the show picked up on Nev's attempts to get the Cawood family to Spain - where Tommy is also planning to head.
"Ok is there going to be a link between #nevisongallager and #TommyLeeRoyce as the former offered to put Clare and family in his Marbella villa. Whilst #TommyLeeRoyce has been offered a new job and life in Marbella. #HappyValley," one fan predicated on Sunday night.
Ahead of the final episode airing this weekend, another Happy Valley viewer added: "Tommy's going Marbella and Nevison also has a house there/has offered to put Clare/Neil/Ryan up there??? Coincidence???? #happyvalley #welldodgelads."
"Is Nev Tommy's accomplice with his place in Marbella #happyvalley," a third mused on Twitter after the penultimate episode of Happy Valley aired over the weekend.
Others predicted Nev, whose daughter Ann was raped and held captive by Tommy in series one of Happy Valley, will be the one to seal the villain's fate and secure his downfall.
"New day,new theory , it will be Nev who kills TLR off in Spain, just saying #HappyValley," one fan of the show predicted online.
Another pondered: "Sooooo I reckon that Nev has paid Darius to say he will get TLR to marbs. That’s why he mentioned it to Claire, but TLR won’t get there, Nev’s revenge. Too much coincidence with Marbs/Malaga #HappyValley."
