Hanuman Jayanthi is observed for 41 days, beginning on Chaitra Purnima and ending on the tenth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. Devotees in Andhra Pradesh begin the 41-day Deeksha on Chaitra Purnima and finish it on Hanuman Jayanthi. Lord Hanuman's birthday is commemorated with pomp and circumstance all over the country. During this sacred period, worshippers read and chant the Hanuman Chalisa and even feed monkeys to seek Lord Hanuman's blessing.
