Raksha Bandhan is a special festival in Hindu tradition where a girl ties rakhi (a thread that signifies love and respect) on her brother's wrist and the brother promises to protect her till his last breath.

The festival is also known as rakhi purnima in many parts of the country. As per Hindu calendar, raksha bandhan falls on the last day of Saawan month. This year Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 11.
