Father's Day has a fascinating history that dates back over a century. The idea for this celebration is believed to be first conceived by Sonora Smart Dodd, a loving daughter from Spokane, Washington. Inspired by Mother's Day, which had already been established as a national holiday, Dodd wanted to create a day to honour her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran who had single-handedly raised her and her siblings after their mother passed away.
