This year's Chaitra Navratri, a nine-day celebration, begins on April 9. On April 17, there will be festivities in honor of Ram Navami. The first day of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar is Chaitra Navratri. On this day, devotees worship Maa Durga and her nine incarnations: Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri. A nine-day celebration, Chaitra Navratri is a Hindu holiday that ushers in the spring. Devotees observe fasts and make prayers throughout the multi-day festivities. Ram Navami, or Lord Rama's birthday, marks the conclusion of the celebration. Devotees offer prayers to nine distinct avatars of Goddess Durga during the course of the festival's nine days.
There are rituals like Ghatasthapana, which invokes the goddess Shakti. Chaitra Navratri is celebrated with many of the same customs and rituals as Shardiya Navratri, which takes place in September or October.
