Australian golfer Hannah Green secured a thrilling one-stroke victory over Celine Boutier at the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. Green's remarkable performance included a stunning 30-foot birdie on the final hole, capping off a final round 67 to finish at 13-under-par 275 at Sentosa Golf Club.
Green, 27, claimed her fourth LPGA title and her first since the JM Eagle LA Championship last year. Reflecting on her strategy, Green emphasized the importance of aggressive putting to secure the win.
Despite Boutier's strong showing, which saw her briefly leading by two strokes towards the end, Green's late surge ultimately sealed the victory. Boutier, a 30-year-old Frenchwoman with multiple titles under her belt, finished at 12 under-par-276 and expressed satisfaction with her performance.
Yuna Nishimura's impressive final round, highlighted by six birdies, propelled her to a tie for third place at 9-under 279 alongside Brooke Henderson, Mi Hyang Lee, and Nasa Hataoka.
Notable shifts in the leaderboard included overnight leader Ayaka Furue slipping to a tie for eighth at 7-under 288, and two-time defending champion Jin Young Ko finishing in the same position. Lilia Vu, an early contender who withdrew due to illness, added a twist to the tournament.
The event marked the second of three consecutive weeks in Asia for the LPGA Tour, with the upcoming Blue Bay event in China before returning to California for the next tournament in March.
With a mix of seasoned champions and rising stars, the HSBC Women’s World Championship showcased the competitive spirit and skill that define the world of professional golf.
