A police station was closed earlier this morning (April 4) after a suspected hand grenade was handed in by a member of the public. A bomb squad was called to the scene at Hereford Police Station after the suspected explosive was reported.
West Mercia Police confirmed that station, found on Bath Street in Hereford, had been closed at around 10.54am this morning as a "precaution", adding at the time: "Explosive Ordnance Disposal have been informed and are attending the scene assess the device and ensure it is disposed of safely."
They later confirmed that the suspected weapon had been removed just half an hour later.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police announced at around 11.30am on Twitter that the station had since reopened: "Hereford Police Station has now reopened.
"The front office was closed as a precaution after what is believed to be a hand grenade was handed in by a member of the public.
"Explosive Ordnance Disposal has attended and removed the device."
