Reegan Mimnaugh is delighted to see his old team-mate and mentor Darian MacKinnon back in the Hamilton Accies dressing room.
The club legend returned to the club last week to join John Rankin's coaching team and midfielder Mimnaugh says it will be great to have another motivational figure in the first-team setup this season.
MacKinnon helped bring Mimnaugh through the youth ranks as a coach alongside Dougie Imrie with Accies' under-16s a few years ago, while also playing alongside him during the livewire's final couple of years of an eight-year spell at the club between 2012-2020.
So the 20-year-old knows exactly what he will bring to the setup this season as Accies bid for promotion back to the Premiership.
Mimnaugh said: "Daz was my coach at under-16s with Dougie Imrie and when I was breaking into the first team he was here as a player and I was playing alongside him as well, so it's good to have him back.
"Everybody knows what you get off of Daz - he's 100mph and mental so it will be good to have him back in the dressing room.
"It will be a bit louder in there anyway.
"He obviously played at a good level, he knows the game inside out and he is good at motivating you.
"He is also very intelligent and because he has played the same position as me he would be the one to pull me to the side and tell me how I could improve on things to take the next step in my career.
"He was really good to me in that way.
"We've got a good dressing room in there.
"We can have a laugh at times but when we are serious, we are serious. There's a good group of boys there.
"We've got a good bond and we take that out onto the pitch."
Another returning player to the dressing room is defender Jamie Hamilton.
The 20-year-old finally signed a new deal this week after a summer of negotiations with the club and Mimnaugh is happy to have another pal back at the club after some encouragement.
He added: "I'm good pals with Jamie so I was messaging him and we've had a good bit of banter about it, winding him up and stuff.
"But it's good to have him back. He's a good player and everyone knows that.
"Hopefully he can kick on now he is back because he is a good guy."
